What is toastmasters?
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. With 345,000 members worldwide. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 15,900 clubs in 142 countries.
The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
A program that works
London Public Speakers provides a proven and enjoyable way to practice communication and leadership skills. As each meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop, there is no instructor. Instead members practice their speaking skills in a friendly and very supportive environment.
Learn the skills you need to succeed
Members develop by progressing along an online interactive and flexible education program, called ‘pathways’ created to help strengthen communication and leadership skills.
Through this programme members learn skills related to use of humour, gestures, eye contact, speech organisation and overall delivery.
There are eleven ‘pathways’ to chose from, each helping you to learn different skills related to specific interests.
In our learn-by-doing approach, we don’t lecture our members about public speaking skills. We give them the tools, techniques and encouragement necessary to speak with professionalism and confidence.
Feedback on your progress
The key to knowing how well you are doing and how to improve is through feedback. Each time you speak at our meeting, you received individual feedback. You will soon see how valuable this is and how quickly it helps you improve.
Lose the fear
Surveys often show how people are more nervous of public speaking than they are of death. Joining London Public Speakers is your first step in overcoming that fear. You can be sure that you are embarking on a program that has been used successfully by millions of people across the world.
